How does a counterfeit jewel masquerade as a gemstone with magical properties? Is the deception a mysterious shroud created by its maker, its possessor or where it is found? How did Tudor Winchester end up being a key location of hundreds of counterfeit gemstones?

Following the trail left by the counterfeit jewels found on the former Shrine of St Swithun at Winchester Cathedral and its infamous destruction by Henry VIII’s men, the project delves into archive source material, presented as a series of three original oil ‘visual recipe’ paintings and a companion book.
